At Universal Genetics, our mission is to provide reliable, confidential relationship DNA testing that helps families and authorities answer important questions. We specialize in U.S. immigration matters and also support legal paternity, adoption, surrogacy, and other relationship cases.
Our teams review each case’s requirements, coordinate documented sample collection, and report results through the channel requested by the relevant authority. Where people are in different countries, we help plan the collections and shipping. The agency or court determines how a result may be used and makes the final decision in its case.

Universal Genetics specializes in U.S. immigration DNA testing. Our AABB-accredited laboratories in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami are full-service facilities where dedicated teams manage testing and case requirements under physician leadership. We coordinate documented collections and reporting for the intended legal or agency use.
Through collection partners in the United States and abroad, we help families arrange testing when participants live in different places. Every case follows the requesting authority’s instructions and the collection options available locally. Our priority is accurate testing, confidentiality, and clear guidance from the first inquiry through results.

Accreditation, a state permit, proficiency testing, and federal certification serve different purposes. Here is how each relates to our work.
AABB accredits laboratories against its relationship testing standards. All three of our locations appear in AABB’s current directory, which also identifies facilities accepted by USCIS for immigration cases.
New York has additional rules for laboratory testing and referrals. We review the required order, agency request, or other authorization before arranging testing for New York residents. Ask our team which documentation applies to your case.
We participate in the College of American Pathologists proficiency testing program, which provides external challenges to assess laboratory performance. Participation in proficiency testing is distinct from CAP laboratory accreditation.
The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments are a federal framework for applicable human clinical laboratory testing. CLIA certification and AABB relationship testing accreditation are separate credentials with different scopes.
